It represents the first systematic set of peak lists extending the Ribu concept beyond Earth, providing a new way to identify and compare the most prominent landforms on other worlds.
Building on the global Ribus catalogue developed for The Relative Mountains of Earth: The Ribus, this new book takes the same fundamental idea far beyond our home planet. It combines planetary science, geography, cartography, data analysis and the peculiar obsession of mountain bagging to create a completely new way of looking at extraterrestrial landscapes.
From enormous Lunar craters and Martian volcanoes to the strange landscapes of Mercury and the icy surfaces of the outer Solar System, the book reveals a planetary landscape that has never before been catalogued in quite this way.
It is part scientific investigation, part planetary catalogue and part invitation to explore worlds that none of us can actually walk across (yet).
